A Night Out at Winchester Mercantile

We recently enjoyed a night out on the square in downtown Winchester and spent time at Winchester Mercantile. Boy, were we ever surprised and delighted by this incredible place. We went for the live music, which is billed as Pickers Night and happens at 6:30 p.m. CST on Thursday nights. The music is just the tip of the iceberg on the community charm and finely curated offerings served up at Winchester Mercantile.

The upstairs loft, where the music is featured, overlooks the downtown square - a great vantage point to view the vibrant town of Winchester. The square is the place to go for local boutique shopping, dining and after-hours fun.

When we arrived, other guests were already there visiting with friends and staking claim to their favorite table, ordering specialty-made charcuterie boards, draft beer, wine, their favorite soda, or iced tea - the house wine of the south.

Once the music started, the entire place lit up with energy, creative conversation, and rousing approval of the artists. Multiple groups demonstrated their talent by great song choices and entertaining banter.

We tapped, clapped, laughed, danced and, and even sang along. I was happy the performers pretty-much drowned out my feeble attempts during the group sings. We love live music, especially good performances. Pickers Night at Winchester Mercantile checked the music box and so much more.

The Mercantile is located in a multi-storied historic building and offers nicely curated collections of artisan foods and unique gifts. Many of the products have been handcrafted in America, both locally and in small towns across the country. Some of the items include beautifully handcrafted pottery, locally made charcuterie boards, bath and body products, and candles.

We thought we were just getting out of the house for the night. What really happened was we became part of an amazing community in Winchester made up of people who love to celebrate, listen to music, make new friends, and just plain ole have fun.
