Experience Tennessee Brewing, Bad Idea Brewing in Columbia

Bad Idea Brewing began in 2015 as a dream among friends that sparked over a dinner table discussion. The name was inspired by a remark made by one of their wives, who humorously called it a “bad idea,” giving birth to a brand identity that embraces creativity, risk, and fun. On September 7, 2019, they opened their doors, becoming the first on-site brewery in Columbia, Tennessee, where they’ve built a reputation for bold and experimental craft beers.

Located now at 510 N. Garden Street, Bad Idea Brewing has joined forces with Ollie & Finn’s sandwich counter. This collaborative setup offers patrons both the unique, rotating beer selections of Bad Idea Brewing and the inventive menu of Ollie & Finn’s, creating a culinary hub in Columbia’s Arts District. The founders, Zac Fox and Anna Eilerman, saw an opportunity to bring local flavor together under one roof, combining gourmet sandwiches and the brewery’s ever-evolving craft beer lineup.

With a no-flagship beer approach, no investors, and no traditional board oversight, Bad Idea Brewing embraces complete creative freedom in its operations, marked by their tagline, #CraftedInColumbia. This partnership gives locals and visitors a welcoming, easily accessible spot to enjoy a beer and a bite, right off Columbia’s main highway. As Zac Fox puts it, the team aims to cultivate a fun, inviting atmosphere reminiscent of their earlier days while bringing the best of local craft beer and food to every visitor. Together, they hope to make each visit an experience in itself, blending community spirit with a fresh take on brewery dining.
