Exploring the Past at Shelton Lane Antiques & General Store

Everything about Shelton Lane Antiques & General Store, owned and operated by Ruby and Harold Shelton, in Manchester, Tennessee, is authentic.

Hop off I-24 at Exit 105, then take a quick GPS-directed ride to Shelton Lane and you’re there. The shop is on the property of Ruby and Harold, down the driveway marked by signs along the way. It feels like Harold and Ruby took a marketing clue from the iconic “See Rock City” barn signs, as they have been really creative placing signage on the barns and fences all along their property.

Once you step inside the shop, get ready to be amazed.

When Harold retired from real estate, his wife Ruby had some booths at Antique World in town. Harold had this building and suggested they bring her inventory there and open a shop.  Together they had collected and refurbished antiques for more than 50 years. This was the perfect place to restore and display their collection for people who like good quality antiques.

Visiting their shop was like stepping back in time, and talking to Harold was informative and inspiring. He was very kind to spend an afternoon explaining some of the beautiful pieces he breathed life back into. We were amazed at many, like the wooden kerosene container, or the assortment of gas pumps. We were especially impressed by the men’s shaving table, complete with an old-fashioned shaving kit.

If you love antiques, or just a chance to browse beautiful things, take a drive to Shelton Antiques & General Store. Be sure to visit with Harold and Ruby. He has a wealth of knowledge and a love for everything old and beautiful. The hours are 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., CST Wed. - Sat.
