Hey Y'all's 3 Spring Stops in Linden, TN

BLOOMING ARTS FESTIVAL

Every year, Linden, TN starts spring off with The Blooming Arts Festival. Begun in 2009 by ex-mayor Jim Azbill and a group of volunteers, the festival has now been running strong for 17 years. Chamber President Allyson Hinson Dickey and a team of dedicated volunteers, work tirelessly to organize this incredible 2-day event.

This year certainly did not disappoint- with a huge line up of craft booths, live music, food trucks, and the popular Blooming Bonnet Contest- there was so much to do and see. The sidewalks were packed with crowds loaded down with shopping bags and delicious snacks. Children and adults alike were enjoying the play area and petting zoo.

Hwy 412/100 was lined with pop up canopies filled with every craft you could imagine. The artists were all happy to explain their craft and show off their talent. Local businesses were open and full of eager customers.

Young and old delighted in the refurbished ESSO Station with the antique Model T, Jeep, and fire truck. Many lucky attendees enjoyed a ride down Main Street in the fire truck, ringing the bell as they went.

Blossom (from Country Sunshine Cabins) led off the Bonnet Parade. Many participants proudly pranced around with their decorated creations, then assembled at the stage where awards were given out.  All of the bonnets were beautifully made!

The quilt show was magnificent, with many beautiful antique and brand-new quilts on display. Perry County is famous for their quilts, and this festival is an opportunity to show off their talent.

CONGRATULATIONS, Linden and Perry County- Blooming Arts 2025 was a resounding success. Make plans now to attend next year, on March 27 & 28. Hope to see you there!

MOUSETAIL LANDING STATE PARK

Around 1829, German master tanner Charles Fredrick Gotthart bought 5000 acres of land and started a tannery on Lick Creek, the North end of what is now Mousetail Landing State Park. During the Civil War, a fire broke out and a large population of rats were seen fleeing the blaze.  This area was given the name “Rat Tail Landing." South of this location, 3 men, Mr. Conner, Mr. Smith, and Mr. McDonald started a smaller tannery, along with a general store and a post office. Since this area was smaller, they called it "Mousetail Landing."

Today, this area is a popular state park perched on the west shore of the Tennessee River. On our visit, I spoke with Ranger Parker Chastain; he is proud of this beautiful park and a great asset to it. Thank you, Ranger Chastain, for making us and all the visitors feel welcome.

The park encompasses 1800 acres and includes two campgrounds, a boat ramp, a swimming beach, picnic areas, enclosed shelter, hiking trails, playgrounds, and so much more.  The most popular hikes are Lady’s Bluff and the historic landing trail. While the road to the campground is steep, you are rewarded with spacious, level sites and magnificent dark skies at night.

While the road to the campground is steep, you are rewarded with spacious, level sites and magnificent dark skies at night. Linden is close enough to pick up groceries or go out to eat during your stay. We recommend also taking the time to visit the local shops and enjoy their hospitality. Also nearby, the Buffalo River offers great canoeing and kayaking, with outfitters all along the banks.  Historical sites like Pinckney's Tomb and The Ironworks are must-sees.  Be sure to visit the Chamber office in Linden for more information.

VIDEO CORNER CAFE

At 169 Hill Street in Linden is The Video Corner Cafe. The name is a little misleading, as it’s no longer a Video store, but is now the best place to eat in Linden.

The Martins (Tim, Lisa, and their son Lance) have built a thriving business that is the most welcoming spot to eat you’ve ever been in. In 1991, Tim and Lisa built a store and offered video rentals, storage units, and tanning beds. Lance had the idea to make hamburgers to sell, which were affectionately called "Tim’s Big Burgers." These were such a success that they now operate a very nice sit-down restaurant, with drive through service and covered patio dining as well.

When you come to eat at Video Corner Cafe, you will likely meet Tim and Lisa and quickly become friends. On Friday night, it's Lance's night to rule the kitchen: he fries the best catfish and hush puppies. Tim usually rules over the pizza ovens, and these pizzas are awesome.  The whole staff feels like family, working with bright smiles.

On Sundays they are now doing a breakfast/brunch buffet that is dangerous for any diet, but so worth the cheating. Make sure you stop in and enjoy a good meal when you're in Linden.

Remember: Don't just travel Tennessee…EXPERIENCE TENNESSEE!!
