Take a Trip Down Memory Lane at Marshall's Market

Ethridge, Tennessee is best known for the inspiring Amish Community we have visited and written about in a previous blog post. But there is another stop in Ethridge just about as essential.

Marshall’s Market, in this quaint community in Lawrence County, TN, is a step back in time. We heard about it from our friend Meredith Hunter at Flowers Creamery, just down the road.

The market is found at 3706 US-43 and is unlike any other you will visit. Owned and operated by Tommy and Joyce Marshall for the past 52 years, this has been, and still is, a labor of love.

This is the busiest and most delicious place to get breakfast and lunch, and it’s also the friendliest! With a little help from their daughter, the kitchen counter runs smoothly and efficiently.

When you walk in, just head to the back and get in line to place your order. The ham, bologna sandwiches, hamburgers, and homemade chili are what keeps everyone satisfied. Tommy makes the chili, which always sells out fast. For dessert, make sure you pickup a fried pie, made fresh in-house. You can also grab one or two to go, since they are smartly placed right at the register!

While we were there we enjoyed browsing around and meeting some of the customers. One told me “if they don’t have it, you don’t need it”. We enjoyed our ham sandwich and fried pies, which were definitely worth the trip. If you need gas, there’s no need to get your hands dirty. At Marshall’s, they pump it for you, just like in the “good ole days.”

Make your plans to visit Marshall’s Market and take a trip down memory lane, even if it’s just for a day.
