The Peery's take on Dotson's Produce in Winchester

Sitting at 1510 Dinah Shore Blvd. is a Winchester favorite, Dotson’s Produce. Dotson’s has been in this location for almost 70 years. For the last 38 years, James and Vivian Dotson have run this family produce stand that was started by James' father. They are assisted by their family; Danielle & Ed Mears, and Lynn & Jeremy Dotson.

We visited on a Saturday while they were preparing for Mothers Day. The building is hard to miss due to the colorful array of flowers in bloom, not to mention the trees, herbs, and garden plants.

Watching this family work together was heartwarming and they were like bees in a hive, and helpful with the customers and each other. At another site, they have greenhouses that they keep busy starting beautiful potted plants and various starter plants.

Their most popular and busy times are spring and fall. In the fall they have a beautiful selection of pumpkins, hay, mums, assorted gourds, and corn stalks. Then as they get into the Christmas season they have Christmas Trees, and wreaths, and they prepare fruit baskets.

The store is stocked with Amish and Mennonite canned items, cheeses, sausages, and butter. There is a freezer with grass-fed beef, country ham, pork bbq, and whole hog sausage from a farm in South Pittsburg.

So when you’re in Winchester just look for the BEAUTIFUL flowers and stop in. Grab some vine-ripened tomatoes, or some candies to take home. You will not be sorry you stopped in, and will leave as friends with this sweet family.

Their summer hours are Monday-Saturday 8-6 and some Sundays 10-5

Remember DONT just travel Tennessee… Experience Tennessee.
