At Square-Forty Restaurant in downtown Lawrenceburg, TN, the staff knows how to cook with love. They learned that from owner Petrine Short, who worked at Square-Forty for 26 years, before becoming the manager. Then last year, Petrine bought the restaurant. With 26 years of service and commitment, there is definitely a lot of love that goes into running this gem of a restaurant..
The team Petrine has assembled has the skills, expertise and “know how” to cook delicious Southern cuisine with great, fresh ingredients, seasoned just right. Then they take it a step further by serving it up hot and with passion for sincere Southern hospitality.
When we visited, on a recent Saturday morning, we were greeted by Olivia, who let us choose our table, then instructed us to help ourselves to the buffet. It was full of delicious breakfast items, including fried pork chops, eggs, bacon, biscuit, gravy and more. Everything we tried was fantastic.
While we enjoyed our breakfast, and some good coffee, we enjoyed watching Lawrenceburg’s square come alive with the Saturday morning market. It appeared to us that this was the busiest corner on the square, especially the crowd that lined-up at the Square-Forty buffet.
Our money is on Petrine Short to keep the tradition of Square-Forty alive for many years to come, especially with her partner David manning the register, sister Olivia helping out on weekends, and Sue who has served customers here for 15 years.
We highly recommend that the next time you are in Lawrenceburg, TN, you enjoy a meal at Square-Forty. They are open Tuesday-Friday 7am-2pm, Saturday 7am-2pm, and Sunday 7am-2pm.
